Writing Challenges 2020

I had so much fun with the first set of themes I received, I decided to do it again this year. What people came up with blew my mind!

THEME:
A dream that I didn't want to finish last night.
Someone stole all the stuff in my get home backpack, but left me the pack. I`m in phoenix and need to get home. An
EMP or solar flare has taken out all the vehicles and there are fires everywhere.

Chaos everywhere. Damnit! I was travelling with a group of people but they betrayed me in the long run. Nice of them to leave me my pack. Ok, so you get the idea, I’m gonna explain what the hell happened.

THEME:
The systematic decline of Reason and Common sense in favor of Entitled Emotions.

“The power of the mind. The power to think and therefore see, all the belief and evidence one has accumulated over the course of their lives ...which changes with time and experience”
~Lady Quill

THEME: RISE PHOENIX RISE

I have to get this out before it’s too late, before there is no one left to relay what’s happening here. We are being picked off one by one and the adults know nothing. They think it's a game, they think it’s an option to play. But I’m here to tell you that it’s not. Not this time.

THEME:
The ghost in the network, nsa cia dod any number of acronyms hiding behind the glitches...or are there ways to test this "ghost", this entity learning to type through the ether...accessing root programs not available in the world of the hacker, the one moving faster than the computations allow...how should I learn to see beyond the tech and understand the incomprehensible abilities attained by the ghost in my network.

“Where am I?” The question came as a thought. There were no words. This place didn’t allow for that. The smoky entity peered around, 2 worlds superimposed over one another, she could see both and interact with neither properly, a stranger among those who were unaware of her presence.

THEME:
This piece was inspired from David's first writing prompt he gave me about the decline
of reason and common sense. (Monologue of a Maniac)

“That will never work.” Came a voice over the speaker.

“I have a way. You’ll see. Give me more time and I promise you will not be disappointed.” The sound of shuffling papers followed the ardent and sincere plea.

THEME:
The picture you used for this post. It looks like you are a pilot, but also fancy. Looks sort of "steampunk"...

Blue sky for miles. The Earth, miniature and amalgamated into a single shape with nondescript features from this distance. This is what it feels like to live according to Mara Spyre.

THEME:
Traveling with Dryads

I pulled my map from the satchel at my hip. Although the paper had torn from our earlier scuffle with the Orcs, I could still make out the trail we were on. I was the only one in our group who needed a map, you see.
